This week, ABCUL’s Young Professionals Network (YPN) announced that a new Chairperson and Vice-Chair will lead the group into its fifth year.

Luke McGilvray from 1st Class Credit Union acted as the YPN’s Chairperson for three years, and now passes the baton to Emily Alexander from the Penny Post Group.

Emily has been a valued member of the YPN Steering Committee and has held the position of Vice-Chair for the last six months. Emily’s job as Communications Officer at the Penny Post Group allows her to deliver tasks creatively and just this week Emily hosted a successful webinar which was the first collaborative session between the YPN and the British Chapter of the Global Women’s Leadership Network.

“I’m thrilled to be appointed ABCUL’s YPN Chair,” said Emily. “The network has been invaluable to my professional and personal development so I’m proud to now be chair of the network. There are definitely some big shoes to fill but I can’t wait to get started”. Emily will be supported in her role by a newly elected Vice-Chair, Liam Cartwright from Enterprise Credit Union. Liam has joined the YPN Steering Committee recently, having graduated from the Credit Union Foundation’s ‘CU Futures’ Programme.

Reflecting on his three years as the YPN’s Chair, Luke said: “The last 3 years in role have been an amazing and memorable experience for me, from attending my first ever WOCCU to hosting a standalone YPN event in Manchester.

“I am now incredibly excited to hand over the role of Chairperson of the YPN to Emily Alexander. Emily has been an amazing support to me over my 3-year term as Chair, contributing to our meetings, organising webinars, hosting sessions and much more. I know Emily will go on to lead the committee and network to new heights.”

The YPN is working on changes to its structure and plans for 2024 with details to be released in the New Year.
