This week, members of the Serve and Protect Credit Union staff had the opportunity to attend the Emergency Services Football League (ESFL) European Championships as a headline sponsor of the league. Serve and Protect Credit Union was pleased to sponsor the event, offering players the opportunity to improve their physical, mental, and financial wellbeing through access to savings and affordable credit services tailored for emergency services workers.
The ESFL serves as a vital platform for emergency services workers across the UK, offering a unique and adaptable football league to enhance their health and wellbeing. The league recognises the demanding nature of their professions, providing flexible fixtures to accommodate irregular work schedules.
“We know the Emergency Services family do an incredibly tough job, so being able to show our support and give something back, makes myself and the team extremely proud.” Said Business Development Manager at Serve and Protect Credit Union, Rob Lovesey.
Rob continued, “It’s such a unique opportunity for the credit union, supporting an event which includes organisations and employees across our entire field of membership. It’s fantastic for the brand, but more importantly for the well-being of those 47 teams and 900 players who attended.
“We had so many people thank us throughout the tournament, saying how much they needed this opportunity to step away from the pressures of the day job and recharge.
It is just another example of the important role credit unions can play in terms of giving back to the communities they serve”
The first ESFL Euros, held at La Manga Club in Spain back in 2022, provided ESFL teams the chance to compete at world-class sporting facilities in a tournament to be crowned ESFL European Champions, which was won by London Police FC. This year, the second ESFL Euros was held at the Cambrils Park Resort in Salou, Spain. The 2024 tournament saw the event double in size to 47 teams and over 900 players with the addition of both a Women’s and Veterans’ tournament.
