This week at ABCUL’s office at Holyoake House in Manchester, eight credit union professionals began the Credit Union Foundation’s 10-month educational programme, CU Futures.
Launched in 2016, CU Futures now in its ninth year of operation has overseen 83 individual graduates from 43 different credit unions across England, Scotland and Wales and this year’s class spent the day getting to know their fellow peers, learning more about the year-long programme, and hearing presentations from members of the ABCUL staff team including Chief Executive, Robert Kelly.
“This is a one-of-a-kind development opportunity for young professionals within our sector to further their skills and experience and progress to the next stage of their careers,” says programme manager, Jake Hatch.
Over the next 12 months, the CU Futures will undertake a range of activities focused on their personal development as well as expanding their exposure to the wider sector and supporting them to think strategically about the future of credit unions in Britain.
“We are delighted to continue to enable another group of ambitious young people from across our sector to benefit from this innovative programme’, Jake added.
As a former participant and graduate of the course, Jake believes CU Futures has been integral to his development and is delighted to lead the next class of participants. “I’m very proud of what the programme has achieved and to see so many graduates of the past succeed and grow their high ambitions to develop in the sector over the years.
“Like every year, this class has an enthusiastic passion for our sector and are keen to get started. CU Futures is a standout programme in our sector, and I thank the enormous support from credit unions we receive each year.”
