Just Credit Union (JCU) has expanded its regional presence with the launch of The Potters’ Bank, a new local brand designed to bring fair, ethical, and community-focused financial services to Stoke-on-Trent. The brand officially launched in early November with support from several local businesses and Stoke-on-Trent City Council.

The Potters’ Bank operates as a brand name of Just Credit Union, extending the organisation’s long-standing commitment to delivering accessible and responsible financial services across the Midlands.

Just Credit Union was first registered in 2001, marking a pioneering moment for Shropshire. Its common bond originally covered a large geographical area, later expanding to include Telford & Wrekin – allowing anyone living or working across the county to join. Over the last two decades, the credit union has grown year on year, strengthening its savings base, lending activity and membership.

In 2025, a major milestone was reached as FAIRshare, Money Box and MWS Credit Union merged to form a single, dynamic organisation under the Just Credit Union banner. The creation of The Potters’ Bank represents the next stage in JCU’s mission to serve communities across the wider region, offering a locally recognisable identity backed by the strength and reliability of the broader credit union.

Just Credit Union emphasised that its ability to expand and thrive has only been possible thanks to the close support of its members, partner organisations and local agencies. A spokesperson said: “We are extremely grateful for the continued backing we receive from our members and partners. Their support has enabled us to grow, to innovate, and to extend the benefits of ethical finance to even more communities, including through the launch of The Potters’ Bank.”

With this latest development, Just Credit Union continues to reinforce its commitment to financial inclusion, community development and providing fair alternatives to high-cost lenders across the Midlands.
