Bradford District Credit Union (BDCU) has unveiled plans to host a series of events designed to improve financial wellbeing as part of Talk Money Week 2023 with a Payroll Partner Roadshow.

Taking place in person and online from Thursday 2 November to Thursday 9 November, the events have been developed in conjunction with some of BDCU’s partners. Events will cover topics such as the threats posed by loan sharks, ways to build credit scores, and advice on overdrafts.

The roadshow will also visit Bradford University for a major staff benefits event as well as visiting the headquarters of Yorkshire-based social housing provider, Incommunities. Following these events, webinars are scheduled with the staff of Bradford and Kirklees Councils and BDCU will host a webinar for staff from all its 34 payroll partners on Thursday 9 November.

“We know that many people still feel uncomfortable talking about money, so Talk Money Week is an excellent way to help them open up, discuss their circumstances and make improvements wherever possible.” said Ian Brewer, EDI Community Development Lead at BDCU.

Ian added: “I can’t wait to meet lots of new faces on the roadshow and I’m confident that, with the help of our fantastic partner organisations, we’ll be able to make a positive financial difference to staff at our payroll partners’.

Over 3,000 staff at Bradford Council save with BDCU and Cllr Hinchcliffe, Leader at Bradford Council said: “With the cost of living crisis still stretching many people’s finances to breaking point, it’s more important than ever that we provide staff with the support they need to help them reduce their money worries. This roadshow is the perfect way to reach as many staff as possible.”

“Bradford District Credit Union was started 30 years ago and now helps over 4,000 staff at 34 companies save £4.6 million and borrow £2.2 million through payroll deduction. Said Katie Hurrell, CEO at BDCU.

Katie added: “Helping others take back control of their finances is something we love to do, so we’re thrilled to be taking a lead in organising Talk Money Week”.
