Cardiff and Vale Credit Union is reflecting on a year marked by growth, recognition and continued commitment to serving communities across Wales, and looks ahead to what will be another pivotal year of growth for the credit union.

One of the standout moments of the year saw Chair Dr Rhian Thomas and CEO Caroline Richardson proudly represent the credit union at the House of Lords, where they championed the importance of inclusive finance and the vital role credit unions play in supporting financial wellbeing.

The credit union’s impact was further recognised nationally through inclusion in HM Treasury’s Financial Inclusion Strategy. This acknowledgement highlighted Cardiff and Vale Credit Union’s work delivering school saver schemes across Cardiff and the Vale, helping to instil positive saving habits from an early age.

Community presence remained a key priority, with the relaunch of Cardiff and Vale Credit Union’s presence in local Hubs. Supported by a dedicated team of volunteers, the credit union increased its engagement with both new and existing members, continuing to raise awareness of ethical, community-focused financial services.

Reflecting on the year, CEO Caroline Richardson said: “We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved this year, but our greatest achievement will always be serving our community. Everything we do is about enabling people across Wales to save with confidence and access fair, affordable credit. I want to thank our members, staff, volunteers and partners for being part of our journey and helping us make a real difference.

“While these highlights capture just some of the year’s key moments, Cardiff and Vale Credit Union remains focused on its core purpose: supporting the people of Wales to save, borrow and thrive. The organisation extends a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has contributed to another impactful year.”
