Next month, at ABCUL’s Annual Conference, US Credit Union pioneer, Mike Mercer will be speaking at the Associations Young Professional’s Network (YPN) event. Launched at the 2019 ABCUL Annual Conference, the ABCUL Young Professionals Network is the national platform for young credit union leaders to engage and promote the credit union movement.
Each year at ABCUL’s conference, the YPN hosts its flagship event for young professionals engaging interactive discussion and networking with expert speakers covering the important and relevant topics that impact the credit union sector.
Speaking at March’s event, former President and CEO of Georgia Credit Union Affiliates, Mike Mercer will engage in dialogue around the aspirations and perspectives that make for a great cooperative leader. Mike dedicated himself to working with credit unions across the USA to create meaningful financial solutions for millions of members.
The Network’s main goal is to connect, learn and live the sector’s cooperative values enabling them to develop into credit union leaders and retaining their talent within the British movement. Commenting on next month’s event, Mike said: “To me, the YPN is pivotal to emerging leaders in the movement. As you might imagine, our discussions will have much to do with the idea of Cooperative Identity.
“There are many drivers for success at cooperatively structured businesses. Purpose and mission must be clear and compelling. Vision and strategies must be well-conceived. Operational execution has to be superb. But no element matters more than the caliber and conviction of co-op leadership. Not just the CEO, but the entire team. And to that end, the development of future leaders is of utmost importance. It is with that in mind that I look forward to working with ABCUL Young Professionals in Manchester soon.”
