For the fourth year in a row, Engage is proudly hosting its Unsung Credit Union Hero Awards, an annual celebration recognising individuals who have made vital commitment to the credit union sector. The awards offer a platform to share inspiring stories and recognize the tireless efforts of those who often go unnoticed.
This year, ABCUL’s Head of Member Engagement, Debbie Smith-Hands joins a panel of judges reviewing nominations to select individuals who make an incredible impact to improve the lives of its community every day.
“At ABCUL, we know first-hand the dedication, compassion and commitment that is sacrificed to make a significant difference in the lives of credit union members, so with that said I am delighted to be on the panel of this year’s judges,” says Debbie.
Every year, a panel of judges reviews numerous nominations, and while it’s a challenging task to select winners, a few stories stand out.
Geoff Leech, Managing Director of Engage.
“We’re thrilled to kick off the fourth annual Unsung Hero Awards, presented by Engage. The special initiative celebrates the incredible dedication of Credit Union staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to promote financial inclusion.
We’re also absolutely delighted to have Debbie Smith-Hands from ABCUL joining the judging panel once again. Debbie has an incredible track record of advocating for Credit Unions, and her insight will be invaluable in recognising the unsung heroes who help drive meaningful change in the sector.
Nominations opened on Monday 02 September, and close on Friday 11 October with winners announced on International Credit Union Day (Thursday 17 October).
