Thistle Credit Union reached the milestone of serving its members for 30 years. Thistle Credit Union was founded in November of 1991, back then known as Blantyre Credit Union. Over the past 30 years they have built up and adult membership of 13,000 and over 4,000 junior savers.
Thistle Credit Union are celebrating this milestone in style by launching the Jagpot Lottery, giving its members the opportunity to win one of three amazing prizes. Thistle Credit Union has since expanded its common bond and now covers the west of Scotland, which led to a rebrand from Lanarkshire Credit Union.
Chief Executive of Thistle Credit Union, Aaron Kerr stated “This is indeed a milestone for us especially after the past 18 months that we all have had. Reaching 30 years is testament to the staff, volunteers, and members of our Credit Union.
“Times have changed over 30 years from pay in books to pay in cards and now we are using a mobile app, who would have thought this 30 years ago. The members of Thistle Credit Union at present have £16 million in savings and we have £8.1 million out on loans to our members which is truly amazing. As is stated previously we want to give something back to our members and we felt a lottery prize would be an ideal way of celebrating 30 years and more”.
