Thistle Credit Union have published its social impact report, which articulates the true value of the services it provides to its membership and community.

Over recent years the credit union has grown rapidly, and now serves over 10,000 members in the West of Scotland. In 2021, the credit union rebranded as Thistle Credit Union and now serves the West of Scotland.

Publishing highlights from a member survey in the report, Thistle Credit Union were delighted that 96% of its respondents said they would recommend the credit union to friends and family. Also, 95% said they were either very satisfied or satisfied with their experience and 91% said they were either very likely or likely to turn to the credit union in an emergency.

“At Thistle Credit Union, we are committed to supporting the local community and are continuously striving to improve our products and services,” says CEO,  Aaron Kerr. In the financial year 2020/2021, over 500 new members joined the credit union and approved over 2,500 loans. This brings a total of borrowed to over £44,000,000 and over £16,000,000 in savings across the membership.

The credit union also shared the success of its ‘Savvy Savers’ campaign to teach young people in schools the importance of saving from a young age. Thistle Credit Union now have one of the largest junior memberships in GB at 3,956.

Aaron added: “The future for Thistle Credit Union is looking bright and we can’t wait to share what we have planned for our members. As we continue to grow our membership across our new common bond area, we will be introducing new and exciting products and services.”
