With the support of a partner organisation, Lewisham Plus Credit Union has announced that it will be distributing children’s shoes worth over £18,000 to families across its membership.

Partnering with Home-Start – a local community network of trained volunteers helping families with young children through their challenging times – 2,000 pair of children shoes have been donated for distribution to struggling families in the Bromley area. Lewisham Plus will be supporting the initiative and having done an inventory, the credit union have now started to distribute these to its members. CEO of Lewisham Plus, Ravi Ravindran said: “We are really pleased to be able to offer approximately £18,000 worth of shoes to our members.

“This was of course wonderful news as we know how difficult it is for young families at the moment with fuel prices rising fast and inflation moving up”.

As Lewisham Plus remains a vital community asset, it continues to provide a valued service for its members, recently investing in a major upgrade to its online lending system and improving electronic services for its members. These included the launch of a popular new CU app, enabling e-signatures for loans, Open Banking, improved identity verification for online joiners and postcode lookup for addresses.

Looking ahead to the future, Lewisham will be celebrating its Pearl anniversary in March 2022. “I hope as life returns to normal, we get to meet and speak to more of our valued members and help improve more lives,” Ravi added. “March 2022 sees our 30th anniversary and I very much look forward to a year of growth and prosperity for all.”
