Newport Credit Union has recently celebrated 25 years of trading and is taking time to reflect on its quarter century experience.
The credit union has a proud history starting in Betwws as Newport Northwest Credit Union and has played a huge role in supporting families and individuals over the years with preferential rate loans and a safe place for savings.
Members are encouraged to save for their future, and in return they receive affordable credit, free insurance on loans, and, when possible, a return on their money.
“The mission is to provide members with access to reasonably priced financial services and encourage the development of good financial practice. Members come from varying backgrounds, from those on low incomes to members with well paid jobs. We welcome all ages, from birth onwards to save with us, and anyone over the age of 18 is able to apply for a loan,” said Chair Reg Smith.
Newport Credit Union also stated that its aim ais to promote the credit union in the city and increase membership at a time many traditional high-street banks are reducing their store-front offerings.
Reflecting on the last 25 years, the credit union said: “The Board and Staff would like to thank the people of Newport and all our great volunteers for their support over the years.”
