Ten Merseyside Credit Unions have joined up as part of a new initiative to further enhance services for members and explore how credit unions in the region can support communities to the best of its ability.
This week’s meeting welcomed CEO of Donore Credit Union, David McAuley opening a conversation around what the purpose and vision of the credit union representatives in the room was, as well as discussing how collaboration amongst credit unions in Ireland overcame challenges the sector faced for the greater good of the movement.
It was great to see all that attended this week and previously,” CEO of Riverside Credit Union, Peter MacDonagh. “I have been enthused and energised by our meetings so far, and I am confident that we have a synergy that amplifies our collective impact.
“It’s not just about the financial benefits; it’s about mutual support, shared knowledge, a common goal to serve our members better and to make many more people aware of the benefits of joining a credit union”.
The meeting also was attended by long term supporter of the sector and Director of The Co-op Credit Union, Chris Smith who led a session regarding a collaboration project for the steering group.
Commenting on the group’s formation, CEO of Enterprise, Karen Bennett said: “I’m delighted to collaborate with my fellow credit union peers across the Merseyside community. This new initiative shows the power of cooperatives cooperating for the social good of our members.
“As a collective, we are working hard to support local communities that we care dearly about. Each meeting we strive to improve member services addressing the pivotal challenges and opportunities we share together as one.”
