Harlowsave Credit Union – who recently merged with Plane Saver Credit Union – hosted its local MP Robert Halfon at a community networking event on 9 June 2023. Also in attendance were representatives from Harlow Council, Essex County Council and a range of community organisations.

Robert Halfon has represented Harlow and the villages in Parliament since 2010.

“The expansion of Harlowsave Credit Union is helping to drive up financial literacy in the community, enabling people to climb the ladder of opportunity. As Minister for Skills, Apprenticeships and Higher Education, I am championing exactly this,” says Halfon.

“People, especially young people, need the tools, resources and skills to advance and thrive in the real world. One of the first steps is having the capability and confidence in their finances, granting them the security to then follow their own ambitions and aspirations,” he adds.

Halfon has advocated for the local community for many years and is especially focused on education, strengthening the NHS, improving local infrastructure, and cutting the cost of living.

On the day, Harlowsave also donated £100 worth of products to the Hygiene Bank at Community Embrace and food for the Harlow Food Bank.

Rachel Downing, Head of Business Development at Plane Saver said ‘’The event brought together several different organisations in and around Essex and we are excited to continue working with them to support residents and employers in the areas’’.
