Kingdom Community Bank Boosts Presence in West Fife

Kingdom Community Bank, Fife’s largest credit union, has further demonstrated its commitment to being accessible to everybody who lives or works in Fife by opening a new branch in the centre of Dunfermline.

At a time when high street banks are cutting opening hours and closing branches in record numbers, Kingdom Community Bank is bucking the trend by opening their first branch in the west of Fife. The population of the newly designated city of Dunfermline is growing rapidly, and it also acts as a transportation and retail hub for the whole of the west of Fife, making this branch readily accessible to a large proportion of Fifers.

The new branch also represents a new approach to partnership working for Kingdom, opening it within Fife Voluntary Action’s new Community Support Hub in the Kingsgate Centre. This has strengthened Kingdom’s partnerships with a range of local charities and public sector providers, receiving and making referrals to other services. This helps local people to access a range of services to suit their needs in one convenient place.

Kingdom’s new presence in Dunfermline is further proof that local credit unions back their local communities and are pushing back the influence of high-cost lenders and offering a regulated, ethical, lower-cost alternative to payday lenders, other high-cost lenders, and illegal loan sharks. The cost of loan sharks to the most vulnerable in our community impacts people financially, physically, and mentally. Kingdom Community Bank provides safe, reliable assistance to those financially vulnerable individuals.

Sofia Dogan, CEO of Kingdom Community Bank said “We are delighted to open a new branch in Dunfermline and offer the people of west Fife a local, ethical option. We want more people in Fife to have the opportunity to join our credit union and have a positive, long-term impact on their finances. In addition to financial literacy and responsible lending, we have developed partnerships with local charities and public sector organisations to deliver a holistic service through our branch.”

Kenny Murphy, CEO of Fife Voluntary Action and the Community Support Hub said “We welcome Kingdom Community Bank into the Community Support Hub, bringing responsible lending and financial literacy to even more people in Fife and championing financial resilience in the local community.”
