Just Credit Union Announce Winner of Annual Education Award

Just Credit Union announced last week that their annual education grant has been awarded to Katie Roberts which will enable her to study nursing at Wolverhampton University.

The education award is in memory of Roger Walker who was a founding member, long time chair, and board member of Just Credit Union. He was instrumental in setting up Just Credit Union and remained involved until he passed away in 2020, education of young people was very close to his heart.

Katie expressed her thanks to the credit union and said: “I will be forever grateful. This award will relieve a lot of financial stress and assist me on my journey to becoming an adult nurse. This has been my dream since I was a little girl, allowing me to help vulnerable people in need and save lives. This is the best gift I could ever imagine.”

It was Katie’s mother, Tracey, who nominated her for the grant, and she said that “knowing Just Credit Union believe in her – means so much” and “It has always been [Katie’s] dream to be a nurse so it is thank you to Just Credit Union for helping it come true.”

Applications for the 2024 education grant will open next June and details will be available on the credit union’s website here.
