This month, Hoot Credit Union proudly marks a remarkable milestone: 20 years of serving the people of Bolton and Bury. For two decades, Hoot has been a steadfast partner in helping members save, borrow, and build brighter financial futures, while fostering community resilience and financial inclusion.

To celebrate this incredible achievement, Hoot Credit Union has announced an inspiring initiative for 2025, in which it will plant one tree for every new member who opens a savings account in the coming year, up to 1,000 trees. This initiative highlights Hoot’s commitment to its values as an ethical organisation, caring not only for its members and local communities but also for the planet.

“This tree-planting initiative is our way of giving back and contributing to a healthier ecological future for everyone,” said a spokesperson from Hoot Credit Union.

ABCUL CEO, Robert Kelly, extended his congratulations, saying: “On behalf of ABCUL, I am delighted to congratulate Hoot Credit Union on reaching this remarkable milestone of 20 years of dedicated service to its community. Over the past two decades, Hoot has exemplified the very best of what credit unions stand for—promoting financial inclusion, fostering economic resilience, and making a real difference in the lives of its members.

“Your commitment to the ethos of ‘people helping people’ has made a meaningful difference in the lives of so many. On behalf of the credit union movement, I commend your achievements and wish you continued success as you build on this remarkable legacy for years to come.”
