2024 marks the 25th year of GMB Credit Union’s success.
Now serving over 10,000 people within the GMB Trade Union family, the credit union has experienced many highlights in its 25 years, notably lending over £75 million to members, £11.4 million in shares and distributed over £1.6 million in dividends.
Reflecting on the past 25 years, founding member Gary said: “Joining GMB Credit Union has helped me learn how to save, manage my money and feel more secure” and he often encourages colleagues to join. Similarly, Dionne became a GMB member in the credit union’s early years and she said: “Everything is easy and manageable. Your savings are simply what you can comfortably afford each month”.
The credit union highlighted its journey over the years with improving and upgrading its technology systems and the way in which it interacts with members through communications and marketing – all of which was well received by members.
“It brings me great joy to reflect on the last 25 years” said GMBCU’s Treasurer, David Castledine. “We’ve been on an incredible journey of growth and learning. Going forward, we’ll continue to support our members’ financial wellbeing and empower our community through the brilliant savings, loans, and education we provide.”
