Enterprise Credit Union Celebrates 35 Years of Service
This month, Enterprise Credit Union celebrated the significant landmark of 35 years of service to its community. Established from humble beginnings raising over £8,000 in savings for members in its first year, the credit union now serves over 24,000 people across its community with savings of over £34.5m.

The Merseyside based community led credit union marked the milestone with a special event celebrating with over 100 guests including staff, directors, peers within the movement and its loyal members.
Chair of ECU, Tony Denny welcomed guests to the event and announced the launch of Enterprise’s newly published book “WHAT A DIFFERENCE It Makes”, detailing a chronicle of the people and stories that have shaped ECU into the vital community asset it is today. “Our history, thoughtfully captured in Mark Campbell’s ‘WHAT A DIFFERENCE It Makes,’ showcases the positive change we’ve achieved over the years,” said Tony.
The event then proceeded to announce ECU’s “Community Champion Awards”, which recognised local members whose stories have inspired the credit union to lead its day-to-day service and dedicate their lives to improving the city they live in. Each community champion was presented with a special award on stage, as well being awarded £5,000 to go towards the vital work they do.
“The celebration was a powerful reminder of the impact we’ve had on our community since we began,” Tony added. “It was encouraging to see so many community groups come together to mark this milestone with us. Recognising each of our community award winners with a £5,000 prize was a meaningful way to give back and acknowledge the hard work they do to support and uplift others.
Commenting on the milestone event, CEO of ECU, Karen Bennett said: “These connections are what our industry is all about and the memories shared will strengthen our community for decades to come. Here’s to 35 years of ECU!”
