Last month, Enterprise Credit Union announced it lent more than £8 million to its members over the Christmas period. Over 8,300 loans were issued at an average of £1,000.

Enterprise Chief Executive, Karen Bennett said: “We’re delighted that we can help so many of our members at such an expensive time of the year. It’s not always easy and it’s assuring to know they don’t have to turn to predatory lenders such as loan sharks at this time of year.”

The Merseyside based credit union has seen an increase of over £1.3 million in loans issued this year, approving more than 18,500 loans at a value of £19.2 million. Some of its success has been put down to developing new loan products including its Season Ticket Loan and School Uniform Loan which has been a welcome addition to so many of its members’.

Chair of Enterprise Credit Union, Tony Denny said: “It’s been hard work, but it’s so worthwhile when you realise the difference we have made to so many members lives’ this year.  Credit unions are by far the most ethical lender out there and it’s our aim to reach even more members next year.

“I want to acknowledge our staff team who work tirelessly with members to make a massive difference to the communities we serve. Recently, I had the privilege of attending the Knowsley Business Awards, where Enterprise was awarded the ‘Highly Commended’ award in the customer commitment category. This is a direct acknowledgement of the team’s great work, something we value immensely as a board.

“On behalf of the Board and Management, we would like to thank our member-owners for helping to make ECU strong organisation. 2019 has been a remarkable year and we can’t wait to make it even better together in 2020.”
