On Friday 15 March 2024, over 250 credit union professionals across the country will be attending the Association’s flagship two-day event, the ABCUL Annual Conference 2024.

As well as plenary sessions from expert speakers across the financial industry in the UK and internationally, delegates will be able to attend 20 thought-provoking workshops.

To begin the proceedings , delegates will hear from Economic Secretary to the Treasury, Bim Afolami addressing attendees via video conference. The past couple of years has seen significant change in the sector, with legislative changes on the horizon, an enhancement on digital services, and a focus on communities under pressure from the cost-of-living crisis. With these subjects being a main priority for ABCUL, Dele Adeleye, Head of Division at the Prudential Regulation Authority will also present to the conference. “Dele was a conference highlight for many delegates last year, who will discuss the opportunities available to the sector and how credit unions can ensure their sustainability while improving the services offered to members,” says ABCUL CEO, Robert Kelly.

The Association will also welcome Greater Manchester Mayor, Andy Burnham to the agenda, as special guest speaker on Saturday 16 March.

Speaking at the annual conference back in 2018, Andy spoke about the vital role of credit unions in the social economy play and how important it is that people saving with their local credit union creates a social impact throughout communities. “The Mayor has been a supporter of our sector and in particular the SoundPound alliance of credit unions across Greater Manchester, which is typified by his pledge to speak to delegates of our conference,” Robert added. “Everyone at the Association is excited to welcome our members to ABCUL’s flagship event. As always, the conference will be a unique and exciting networking experience with the opportunity to meet credit union professionals from across the globe.

“ABCUL would like to thank CMutual for its continued support and sponsorship at the ABCUL Annual Conference 2024.”
