The renowned Development Education (DE Europe) training course is returning this summer—and for 2025, it’s heading to the vibrant city of Dublin. Taking place from 6–11 August 2025 at the Carlton Hotel near Dublin Airport, this immersive residential programme is a must for credit union professionals looking to deepen their understanding of the movement’s values and global impact. Applications are still open but closing soon—don’t miss your chance to be part of this transformative experience.

DE Europe is an intensive six-day residential training programme designed to deepen participants’ understanding of cooperative values, international credit union development, and the global impact of the movement. Facilitated by internationally recognised leaders Marlene Shiels OBE (UK) and Lois Kitsch (USA), the course brings together credit union professionals from across the globe to collaborate, learn, and build lifelong networks.

This year’s course will once again provide a rich blend of interactive group work, individual learning, and engagement with international development challenges—equipping attendees to become certified Credit Union Development Educators (ICUDE).

Marlene Shiels OBE, ICUDE, course facilitator, said:“DE Europe is more than just a training course—it’s a transformational experience that connects people to the heart of the credit union movement. It challenges participants to think differently, to understand the global significance of our work, and to return home with renewed purpose.

“Over the years, we’ve seen DE alumni go on to lead change within their organisations and communities, grounded in the cooperative principles that unite us. We’re excited to bring DE to Dublin this year and look forward to welcoming a new group of passionate credit union professionals to the programme.”

Places are limited and demand is expected to be high. Credit union staff, directors, volunteers, and those involved in support organisations are encouraged to apply promptly to secure a place.
