The Credit Union Foundation’s, CU Futures Class of 2024 continued their progression through the course with a two-day event hosted in London.

In addition to the learning modules the group complete over the 12-month course, the London trip allowed the Futures to have training from an industry expert. Former Chair of the Credit Union Foundation, respected journalist, and Small Business Commissioner, Liz Barclay delivered Presentation and Media Skills training to the group. A key element of the CU Futures Programme is the group to present proposals at the ABCUL annual conference, which meet the sector’s challenges and opportunities. Liz’s session was an important opportunity for them to gather in their groups and work on their proposals.

Hosted by Citi Bank, the Futures also completed their fourth module of the High-Performance Culture development from The Pacific Institute. ABCUL’s Head of Member Engagement, Debbie Smith-Hands accompanied the group and said:

“It was excellent to travel with the Futures group to London for the second year. I particularly enjoy seeing their confidence develop through the exceptional training from Liz and as they work on their projects.”

Debbie graduated from the CU Futures programme in the inaugural year and credits the course for helping her progress within the sector.

Debbie said: “I would encourage any young person in the sector to grasp this opportunity to develop, and I want to say a massive thank you to credit unions and the Credit Union Foundation for their continued support.”
