Working in collaboration with Northampton Town FC Community Trust and Public Health Northamptonshire, Commsave Credit Union has been able to offer free health checks to credit union members and staff.
The checks are designed to spot early signs of stroke, kidney disease, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, or dementia. As we get older, we have a higher risk of developing one of these conditions and an NHS Health Check helps find ways to lower this risk.
“Credit unions are about improving the financial health of our members and we have taken this as a step forward to include the physical health of our members too,” says CEO of Commsave, Amanda Ivey. “As a credit union we understand about finance, and it’s been great working with our local football club who have skills in physical health.”
Business Development Manager at NTFC, Damon Fox said: “We feel proud at the NTFC Community Trust to be selected to undertake the NHS Health Checks on behalf of Public Health Northamptonshire.
“We have seen big interest and sign up to the programme that includes Commsave where they have been welcoming to us and really organised allowing a smooth delivery throughout the days. Staff said they undertook the opportunity to access the NHS Health Checks for own peace of mind and see how healthy I am, it is great to see the Trust out in the Community. It is certainly allowing us to continue to form links with our community & businesses and for them to see the work we do isn’t just football.”
