Commsave Credit Union have reached the milestone of serving its members for 30 years, last week on Saturday 7th August. With over 31,500 members and savings of £100 million, Commsave is now one of the largest Credit Unions in the UK.

Staff, volunteers, and members were getting involved all over the UK, celebrating in workplaces and entering competitions on social media channels.

Chief Executive of Commsave Credit Union, Amanda Ivey commented “Despite the significant changes to the size and scale of the Commsave, and my role within it, I am still inspired by the ethical values of the co-operative model, and so proud of our commitment to ensure that serving our members remains at the heart of everything that we do.

“Simply put, when working at Commsave we are “people helping people”, and I look forward to continuing to help more people to access an easy way to save and a better, more affordable way to borrow in the future.”.

Originally formed in 1991 as Northampton Postal Workers Credit Union, Commsave has seen significant growth throughout its history, with a UK-wide common bond, serving Royal Mail employees, and the wider communications industry, the Home Civil Service, and the fishing industry.

Commsave added a geographical element to its common bond, expanding in 2020 to cover the Northamptonshire area, following a merger with Harvest Money – the local community credit union.

Commsave have published a look back at the Credit Union’s development down the years, which will be available from https://www.commsave.co.uk/downloads
