Clockwise Credit Union has awarded a Community Grant to local charity, which offers refuge to Asylum Seekers.

Clockwise operates a Community Grant Scheme that awards local groups and individuals grants for a whole range of items that ultimately benefit the community the group/individual works to serve. Clockwise Credit Union was able to support the Centre with a grant of £500 and in a statement, CEO of Clockwise Credit Union, Teresa Manning said: “Our grant scheme is just one of the ways Clockwise gives back to its community and we’re delighted to continue the credit union’s positive impact in the local community.”

Coventry Peace House has been operating for a number of years and one of its successful schemes is The Cycle Centre.

The Cycle Centre has been open for ten years and following a closure during covid-19, it has re-opened to the community. The Cycle Centre focuses on restoring donated bicycles to encourage people to cycle by providing affordable bikes to the local community.

The Centre has many skilled bike mechanics who volunteer their time and expertise and a project supervisor Adrian said: “However, we do have volunteers who have never worked on bikes and we work with them to show them what to do. If you have your own bike and just need some advice we are happy to help and welcome everyone who may enjoy social interaction whilst doing something constructive”.
