Announced at last week’s ABCUL Annual Conference, ABCUL’s Young Professionals Network Committee shared its upcoming plans for the Network in 2021. To honour its commitment to provide a robust and dynamic environment for young credit union professionals to connect, learn and live out the sectors co-operative values, it will be hosting a series of virtual events in the form of online learning, webinars and social activities.

YPN members can register for an online learning and development course that helps mindsetting for well-being and performance. This powerful curriculum, provided by Pacific Institute dives into the habits, attitudes, beliefs and expectations of an individual to optimise performance and wellbeing.

Also, the Committee is welcoming back two trained therapists who in the last year, has delivered to the YPN, a number of modules aimed at supporting people in the management of stress and anxiety. “There is now an opportunity to build on that work with further modules that provide participants with a strong understanding of how mental wellbeing can be improved and developed, and how integral it is in shaping a successful career and life,” says Chair of the YPN Committee, Paul Norgrove. The YPN will host six webinars that cover the following topics:

  • Fundamentals and building blocks
  • Interruption and opportunity
  • Optimism builds resilience
  • Harnessing our signature strengths
  • Cultivating gratitude
  • Slight edge habits

Paul added: “The YPN Committee will be planning events in the future with international networks to learn from our counterparts from across the world. We will also be scheduling some dates in the diary for exclusive YPN webinars with expert speakers in the financial sector and also a series of ‘My Career Path’ webinars with voices from the credit union sector.”

Director of the World Council of Credit Unions, Young Professionals Program, Thomas Belekevich, presented at the YPN event last week and said: “In recent years, WYCUP has strengthened its ties to YP networks around the world and we are thrilled to include ABCUL’s Young Professionals Network among our global family.

“Your mission to develop, engage, inspire and retain young professionals within the credit union sector is critical to the long-term sustainability of the movement. We thank everyone at YPN for inspiring our colleagues around the world by sharing your passion as young ambassadors for the cooperative sector.”
