ABCUL’s Exclusive Member Service Wins Consumer Duty Award

ABCUL is delighted to announce its success at the inaugural Consumer Duty Leadership Awards, being awarded the award for Leadership in Technology Services category, due to its partnership with Culture 1872 (Performance Metrics).

Friday 5 July 2024

ABCUL teamed up with 1872 Culture to provide a platform for each credit union across its membership to help evidence that the credit unions are delivering good member outcomes. This collaboration allowed ABCUL members to evidence they are delivering positive outcomes to its members in line with the Consumer Duty. It also provides Consumer Duty Champions with quarterly metrics-based data for boards from individual dynamic dashboards. The initiative allows increased cohesion to the credit union movement to further modernise already solid foundations.

CEO of ABCUL, Robert Kelly says: “As the leading trade association in Great Britain for Credit Unions, ABCUL is staying true to its core mission to serve its members to the best of its ability so that we can each grow and develop to become superior financial services providers, which is typified by receiving this recognition.”

The Awards recognise and celebrate firms that demonstrate exceptional leadership, innovation, and commitment to delivering good outcomes for their customers. The Awards are organised by an Innovate UK-supported consortium comprising representatives from industry, academia, and charities in the financial services sector.

Judged by an independent panel of experts, the Awards shine a spotlight on leading firm’s efforts and accomplishments in embedding the Consumer Duty and driving positive change within the industry.

Fergal Brehony from Performance Metrics said: “We were delighted to win this award in London last week. Through the Consumer Duty collaboration between ABCUL and Performance Metrics, we have actively placed members “at the heart” of everything we do – and proving it through our unique values-based benchmarking methodology.

Robert added: “ABCUL will continue to support member credit unions across the country to ensure customer engagement is high and the credit union sector is seen as providing a consistent lifeline to consumers.”
