This week on Sunday 17 July, credit union professionals from across the globe will visit Glasgow, Scotland for the World Council of Credit Union’s annual conference. This will be the first in-person conference in three years and ABCUL will be co-hosting the event.

“Following a three-year absence due to the pandemic, ABCUL is delighted to co-host the largest gathering of world council credit union members in the world,” says ABCUL CEO, Robert Kelly.

Conference attendees will have the opportunity to connect with peers from around the world and to hear from leading business minds. Keynote speakers include: Ian Khan, a future readiness pioneer, Keren Elazari, the friendly hacker, and Belinda Parmar, owner of the empathy business.

Credit union executives from 60 countries are expected to attend the conference, which will focus on leadership, cybersecurity, digital technologies and the future of financial services.  Attendees can also choose from over 27 different breakout sessions, as well as interactive workshops.

Delegates will have the opportunity to experience the day-to-day operations of credit unions in the city, with visits to Carntyne & Riddrie Credit Union, Drumchapel Credit Union and Dumbarton Credit Union.

Robert added: “The community roots these credit unions have and the day-to-day impact they make on their members’ lives are great examples of people helping people and I’m delighted to showcase our members to visitors from across the globe.

“For attendees to come to Glasgow to visit the city, the people and the credit unions in the area will be a special opportunity for all travelling in July”.
