ABCUL Launches its New Midlands Forum
Last week on Thursday 18 July, credit unions from across the Midlands joined in Birmingham to mark a significant milestone of the newly formed ABCUL Midland’s Credit Union Forum, following a merger of the West & East Midland Forums.

The event brought together credit union employees, key stakeholders and executives to discuss future plans and strategies for the credit unions across the region.
Forums are the place for ABCUL credit unions to meet, learn and share and ABCUL’s Member Relationship Manager, Hollie-Mae Bickerstaffe attended the launch of the Forum welcoming its new members and spoke of her delight to see the cooperative collaboration throughout the day. Hollie said: “The merger signifies a united front, ensuring robust support and innovative solutions for our members. The Forum is dedicated to enhancing financial stability and promoting economic growth within our communities.”
Commenting on the successful launch, Executive Director of the Midlands Forum and CEO of City Save Credit Union, Sean Lynch said: “Firstly I wanted to take the opportunity to thank all the credit unions who attended the meeting on behalf of the new Midland Executives.
“The event went really well with lots of positive energy in the room and contributions from a range of Credit Unions. A key message for the day was opportunity and I feel that all the credit unions left with a sense of that. There was lots of ideas and feedback and as an exe we will ensure these points of view are heard and acted upon.”
The Forum now includes 20 Credit Unions, collectively representing: 182,000 members £268 million in savings £203 million in affordable loans, protecting our community members.
“The new Forum Executives showcased the new structure and shared their extensive experience in the credit union sector demonstrating how this will shape a successful and prosperous forum for years to come,” Hollie added.
