The World Council of Credit Unions provides advocacy, development and education to champion and grow credit unions worldwide. July 2022 marks the return of this incredible conference to Glasgow. To celebrate that, the ABCUL North East, Yorkshire and Humber forum is organising five webinars with international speakers in the lead up to World Council’s flag ship event.

The event was initially due to take place in Glasgow and co-hosted by ABCUL, between 11 and 14 July, but WOCCU decided a virtual format would be more appropriate due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, plans for a face-to-face event have now been rescheduled for 2022.

Member of the Forum and Financial Inclusion Officer at Bradford District Credit Union, Ian Brewer said: “Due to the delays, we thought it was important to work with the Association to create an exciting roadmap and invite speakers from across the world to build excitement to the global credit union event next year”.

Each 2-hour webinar welcomes speakers from across the global credit union movement sharing their stories and views on a range of diverse topics relevant to the movement.

“Members of our forum and credit unions across ABCUL membership have said how much they appreciated attending similar events we’ve hosted in the past,” Ian added.  “This is a unique project that allows credit unions to collaborate together on the important issues facing our sector, and day-to-day life.”

The first of a series of five events will be called, ‘We Are Community’ and is hosted by Liz Barclay and introduced by ABCUL CEO, Robert Kelly.

These webinars are open to all ABCUL member staff. For more information on this webinar, you can view details here.
