1st Class Credit Union Delivers Services to 10,000 Members

In June 1st Class Credit Union reached 10,000 members, matching the hopes its founding members established 31 years ago. 1st Class Credit Union was formed in 1992 by a handful of ambitious members who set the goal that the credit union would one day reach 10,000 members.

In June 1st Class Credit Union reached 10,000 members, matching the hopes its founding members established 31 years ago. 1st Class Credit Union was formed in 1992 by a handful of ambitious members who set the goal that the credit union would one day reach 10,000 members.

Luke McGilvray, Head of Member Services at 1st Class said: “Reaching 10,000 members is an achievement we are delighted with. Not only because we have fulfilled an ambition set by our founding members, but also because this was a result of the hard work put in by the team. We are looking forward to achieving even more milestones as we continue to enhance the services provided to our members, I would like to thank all staff, volunteers, and board members for their efforts in achieving this goal.”

1st Class Credit Union has members from organisations such as the Communications Workers Union (CWU), the Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) and anybody associated with these trade unions due to being in receipt of a pension following previous employment by either CWU or PCS. Furthermore, the common bond of 1st Class includes those employed by an organisation that receives trade union representation by either CWU or PCS. This includes organisations such as The Royal Mail Group, BT, EE, HMRC, DWP, NHS England & Wales, Government Agencies, and more.

1st Class are proud of its work to grow the credit union which included attendance at the smallest and largest Royal Mail sites, learning at Workdays at DWP or HMRC offices, online webinars to the civil servants working from home, proudly attending our trade union partner conferences, and much more.

The credit union has set its next big goal to double their membership within the next five years.
