    Dear Colleagues and Friends,

On behalf of our whole team here in Glasgow, I just wanted to let you know we are leaving ABCUL. As you can imagine this was not an easy decision for us to make but felt it was the best for us. We would like to thank ABCUL for the services provided in the past – it will come as no secret however that we were not satisfied with the way the FPP withdrawal was handled. The most recent letter states that we will find out more about FPP in the coming days and we are still of the belief that our members especially the eldest of those members should be offered a positive solution – we look forward to hearing the options. In the meantime we have worked diligently over the past few months to build a timeline of all of the communications our organisation has received from the insurer which spans some 23 years, we were also able to recover from storage the hard copy marketing leaflets that were given to us in the period 2005-2007. Hopefully as mentioned there will be no need to campaign any further and a positive outcome will be tabled.

We work closely with a large bereavement charity in Scotland and believe that the way we treat our elderly, the dying and the bereaved is super important. At a time of trauma and loss no one needs a financial burden being placed on them. I am sorry if at any time my words were terse but we have a duty to stand up for our members, especially the eldest of those members.

As a result of our journey this year we have refreshed our brand and as part of this have launched a podcast called “Money Made Human”. If you would like to feature on the podcast or to keep in touch with me or any of the team here, you can contact me at gayleadnyana@1stclasscu.co.uk we would be delighted to hear from you. Wishing you all well for the new financial year and well done to all the Credit Unions for all that you have achieved through serving your members this past year. Best Wishes from our entire team, Gayle, CEO 1st Class CU.
