It’s that time of year, so – how is everyone doing bulk emails to members?
We use CampaignMonitor for email marketing, and it works very well, but it’s set up for marketing, which causes a few problems – it refuses to send multiple emails to the same email address (many of our members share email addresses with a family member), and if a member unsubscribes from marketing then CM will not send them any more emails, which is a problem for mandatory things like AGM invites, changes to product T&Cs etc.
Outlook Mailmerge is an option, but I used that last year and after hitting a couple of thousand recipients it fell over and died, and I wound up in the office til 7pm troubleshooting. Curtains does have a native feature for sending statements, but the emails are incredibly basic – no formatting, links etc – and not exactly eye-catching. What I really want is a nice slick online platform, like CM, but without the marketing-related restrictions – but I’m not sure such a thing exists!
If anyone else has used something I haven’t thought of and had success, please let me know!
