Participating in fundraising activities, Lanarkshire Credit Union has raised over £2,000 for a local charity 'Eilidh’s Rainbow’.

The staff of Lanarkshire Credit Union held a race night in its local pub and also participated in a charity football match to helped raise awareness and funds for the cause.

In early 2019, Eilidh’s Rainbow is a charity formed with the aim of  offering much-needed support to grieving families who suffer the death of a child. Currently there is very little support available in Central Scotland for families facing these tragic circumstances.  The charity was established by the parents of Eilidh Dempsey who died suddenly in 2016 aged only 5.

The funds raised for the charity will help provide a holiday home to bereaved parents and siblings, a place that offers an escape from reality. The funds will also be used to provide bereavement support within the local community along with CPR training for parents.

Chief Executive of Lanarkshire Credit Union, Aaron Kerr said: “It has been a wonderful and humbling experience watching our staff and our members pull together and discover what’s important to them as individuals and have that create a ripple within our community. We are immensely proud to continue to play our part in shaping and changing the lives of others in any way we that we can. People helping people, plain and simple.”
