Discovery Credit Union has released its new mobile app, ‘Money Matters Quiz' this week as part of National Numeracy Day.
The app, aimed at 11-18-year-olds, will help young people learn about money management and good savings habits. Players can earn monetary rewards for each successfully-completed category, which will be deposited into their Discovery Credit Union account.
Councillor Kevin Cordell, Convenor of Neighbourhood Services met with local children, Lillia and Meghna to learn about the app. Cllr Cordell said: "Learning wholeheartedly support. We welcome this new and fun initiative from Discovery Credit Union to add to the financial education available in the City."
Young players will learn about budgeting and saving money, and gain knowledge about borrowing, bills and debt. The new Money Matters app will allow players to see their progress and results of each category and advance at a pace that suits them.
For Discovery Credit Union account holders aged 11 to 18, 10p will be deposited into their account after completing each category of the single choice quiz. It is designed with four different question modes, eight categories and the times mode will create a bit of excitement and challenge.
Alan Cowan, General Manager at Discovery Credit Union said: “The Money Matters quiz app is our first attempt at creating digital education tools. This app can be used by anyone and we’d encourage new and existing members to download it and test their knowledge.”
Money Matters will also be demonstrated at training and information sessions held in Dundee schools by Save by the Bell.
The app is free of charge and is available to download via the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
