Next week, the Association will welcome its membership to Manchester for its annual conference event. The conference is the largest credit union gathering in Britain and provides the opportunity for credit union board members, staff and volunteers to hear from a wide range of speakers, discussing the issues that are important to them and network with others from the movement.
Delegates will have 20 workshops on a wide range of topics to choose from over the two days. “The conference offers a programme for every size and shape of credit unions,” says ABCUL CEO, Robert Kelly. “It also provides a fantastic opportunity to network with and learn from your peers from across the sector and showcase credit unions to a range of guests and speakers.”
In usual conference tradition, there will be a delegation from the US, who will offer their expertise across the programme in workshops as well as ins plenary sessions focusing on adapting your business model to future proof your business and also opportunities to strengthen your credit union through strategic mergers.
Day two will feature a keynote speech from John Glen MP, Economic Secretary to the Treasury. John has been Economic Secretary since January 2018 with responsibility for financial services regulation and legislation as well as credit unions and financial inclusion policy. “Over the last four years, John Glen has been committed to our sector and has shown a keen interest in tackling financial inclusion and growing credit unions. We look forward to hearing how Government aims to continue supporting credit union development up and down the country.”
Last year’s annual event was in a virtual setting, which welcomed over 600 credit union professionals and the ABCUL staff team looks forward to hosting its members after a two-year absence. “It’s been over two years since we had a face-to-face event and our conference promises to be a fantastic opportunity to engage for all attendees,” says Robert. “ABCUL would like to thank CMutual for its continued support and sponsorship at the ABCUL Annual Conference 2022.”#News
