Why did you first get involved in credit unions?
I first got involved in Credit Unions as I was keen to break into financial services as I saw it as a potential future career, Credit Unions appealed to me personally as we share the same ethos and many of the same values.
Why did you choose to be part of the YPN Steering Committee?
After completing the CU Futures programme, I was keen to continue my growth, learning and networking within the sector. Therefore, when an opportunity arose to apply to become a member of the YPN steering committee, I was very keen to apply and fortunately was successful in the application.
Why is the YPN important to you?
It is important as I hope to help give other future potential leaders in the sector the same opportunities of getting involved in learning and developing in the way that we have all been, and I think it is important to help continue the momentum we have built so far.
What have you gained from being a member of the YPN Steering Committee?
I have strengthened my Credit Union network and as a result have benefitted from sharing of best practice and learning within that network. I have also developed experience in facilitating, planning and organising learning for others.
What advice would you give to people considering wanting to get involved in the YPN?
Do it! It is absolutely invaluable for growth and will lead to further opportunities if you are engaged and keen to develop.
