Barriers to entry, expansion and exit from retail banking
As part of its on-going review of financial services, the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) sought evidence on barriers to entry in retail banking. We make the case for a greater role for credit unions in line with the coalition Government’s commitment to promoting the role of mutuals in financial services. We also outline ways in which credit unions can be supported to grow, including the introduction of back-office systems.
